It is clear that there is only one Game of Thrones, and its incredible records both in audience and awards—it is the series with the most Emmy awards in history, with a total of 59—make it clear that it will take decades for a series to emerge that equals it. However, HBO is determined to continue exploiting George RR Martin’s universe and, for now, it is succeeding with flying colors thanks to House of the Dragon.
After a first season premiered in 2022 that made it very clear that they were playing with the same quality as in Game of Thrones, now the series returns with a second season that promises to live up to it. The first reviews already say that the series continues its path full of passion, blood, and betrayals. But if you didn’t get hooked on House of the Dragon back then, here are several reasons to do it now.

The blood of the dragon has been spilled
First of all, it quickly becomes apparent that the story is written by the same team as Game of Thrones. Beyond Martin’s original plot, which is obviously incredible, both the dialogues and the small scenes that unfold demonstrate that this series is on par with the best seasons of GoT. Furthermore, it introduces other great characters who immediately join the ranks of the most beloved (and hated) in Westeros.
But these characters would be nothing without their actors, the second great reason why you should get hooked on House of the Dragon. Undoubtedly, the main cast is a delight in all its depth, and the detailed recreation of everything surrounding this series makes it clear. From Matt Smith to Emma D’Arcy to Olivia Cooke, they all manage to bring a truth to their characters that is surprising.

Finally, and this is something that even surpasses Game of Thrones, it is a series full of action. Dragons fly from the first episode, and fire and blood are the order of the day. That is why, even if you haven’t seen GoT before, you can get hooked on this series that follows the Targaryen dynasty.
