Last week, a leaker on Reddit shared new images of the Illuminate, the enemy faction in Helldivers 2. The truth is that these leaks have been happening for a while now and we are learning more about these new enemies. That’s why a user has created a list compiling the Illuminate units that have been discovered so far.
The first one is the Observer. The Observer, coming from the first Helldivers, forms small scouting units that alert other Illuminate of the presence of a player. If they detect you, they emit a signal to notify other nearby Illuminate units. This includes teleporting reinforcements, such as the Squi’ith.
Next we have the Ghouls. These are mutated enemies that, in addition to attacking in hordes, will tear you apart with their claws. Files collected by dataminers show that their size is similar to that of infantry.
The Adept (or Mage) is a floating Illuminate that may have mind control abilities, similar to those found in the early Helldivers. On the other hand, there are the Exiles, hooded and armed with a gauntlet that shoots laser beams, and also the Summoner, who according to the leakers, could summon other enemies.
Continuing with the Illuminate, we have the Councilor, who would wear a robe while moving in a floating chair. There is also an enemy referred to as ‘The Guy‘ by the list creator. It is a heavily armed infantry unit that would carry what appears to be a melee weapon.
You can read the full list here.
The Illuminate were already present in the first Helldivers game (2015) and now they return with a renewed, intimidating and quite powerful look. Undoubtedly, it will be a pleasant surprise for its wide community of players, both newcomers and veterans.
