As every summer, rumors about Apple’s upcoming fall releases dominate discussions about the Cupertino company. This time, as in previous years, a recurring rumor revolves around the possibility of the iPhone 15 being delayed. Fortunately, it doesn’t seem to be the case, as the iPhone 15 release date is much better than we expected.
A launch according to the usual schedule
Users and the press alike are eagerly awaiting the release of the new iPhone 15 with high expectations. The changes in design, new materials, upgraded cameras, and other improvements that will make this generation unique have certainly caught our attention. However, some of these enhancements were raising doubts about the release date of the new iPhones.
A few weeks ago, there were speculations that the release of iPhone 15 could be delayed until October – something that has happened with previous generations. However, it seems not to be the case, as reports and rumors gathered by 9to5Mac indicate that Apple plans to announce the new iPhone 15 in the third week of September.
Rumors suggest that the iPhone 15 announcement will take place on September 13th. Several sources familiar with the matter have reported that mobile carriers have asked their employees not to take days off on that date due to a significant smartphone announcement. Although this doesn’t confirm with certainty that the announcement will be from Apple, the company is known for organizing its iPhone launch events around these dates every September.
iPhone announcements usually occur on Tuesdays to allow international press to travel to Cupertino during the first working day of the week. However, last year’s event took place on September 7th, a Wednesday. Since September 13th is also a Wednesday, it could be the chosen date for Apple’s event this year.
If Apple indeed announces the new iPhones on September 13th, it is expected that pre-orders will open on Friday, September 15th, with the official launch one week later on September 22nd. On this date, we could see the new phones in stores, and the first orders would arrive at customers’ homes.
Compared to last year, iPhone 14 pre-orders began on September 9th, with the official store launch on September 16th. Similarly, last year, iPhone 14 Plus sales started on October 7th due to supply issues. A similar delay also happened in 2020, affecting the release of iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 12 mini.
This is where the rumors of an on-time launch and a delay become plausible. The truth is that predicting Apple’s plans regarding dates is very difficult. This is because, especially with a pre-recorded event, moving the date is relatively easy, but even more so is opening pre-orders only for certain models.
Indeed, while the availability of some models may be slightly delayed, it seems that on September 13th, we will know everything about the new iPhone models. As we anticipate, there will be a design with slightly curved edges and thinner bezels around the screen. Dynamic Island and USB-C instead of Lightning on all models, along with various camera enhancements for all models. These improvements may come sooner than we initially calculated, which is great news for eager iPhone enthusiasts.
