The iPhone Fold is a reality that is on its way to being manufactured, but its release date is a mystery

Apple has begun the final phase of development for its highly anticipated foldable iPhone, sending production orders to its factories. Despite the progress, the launch could be delayed due to the complexity of its manufacturing and the need to maintain high quality standards.

This device, which would mark the company’s entry into the competitive foldable smartphone market, has been surrounded by rumors and speculation until now, but recent leaks suggest that its arrival is imminent.

Apple advances to the final phase of development of the foldable iPhone

The foldable iPhone is expected to feature a 5.49-inch OLED display when unfolded, offering similar characteristics to previous models in the mini series. When opened, the panel would reach a size of 7.8 inches, which is smaller than some competitors and even the iPad mini.

The device will be equipped with a 5,500 mAh battery, the largest in Apple’s history, promising longer battery life. Additionally, the return of Touch ID is anticipated, located in a side button, just like on the iPads.

In terms of performance, the foldable iPhone is rumored to incorporate an A20 Pro chip accompanied by 12 GB of RAM, although it will only have two cameras, unlike the three found in the current Pro models. This reduction in photographic capability may be a point to consider, although its technical specifications remain robust.

On the other hand, Apple also plans to launch the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max, which are expected to be ready by September, leading to a comparison in launch timelines. However, the foldable iPhone could face similar challenges to those encountered by the iPhone X, whose launch was postponed at the time.

According to close sources, the foldable device could be delayed until December, with a presentation scheduled for September, although the exact date is not yet confirmed.
