Project Hail Mary is one of the highest-grossing films of 2026, with a revenue of 218 million dollars in the United States and Canada and 203 million in other territories, totaling a worldwide sum of 422 million dollars.

And it seems that success has already propelled the film into a broader franchise, with a video game adaptation from Amazon MGM that is already confirmed to be coming.

What will Project Hail Mary: Journey Among The Stars be about?

Project Hail Mary: Journey Among The Stars introduces a completely new chapter in the story, developed in collaboration with Andy Weir, the original author of the 2021 book. It is developed by the VR and AR studio responsible for titles like Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow and Peaky Blinders: The King’s Ransom.

Described as a “mixed reality game,” which should mean it combines elements of virtual and augmented reality, Project Hail Mary: Journey Among The Stars allows you to step into the shoes of Ryland Grace, the character played by Ryan Gosling in the movie.

Set in a “crucial and unknown moment of the Hail Mary mission,” your mission is to solve a problem aboard the spacecraft by diagnosing the failure, improvising a solution, and “pushing the boundaries of science and engineering.”

Fans of the movie will also be delighted to know that Rocky, the alien intelligence that forms the emotional core of the film, will also appear in the game as a secondary character.

As described by Maze Theory, the bond with Rocky is something that “you build yourself, through cooperation, problem-solving, and growing trust”.

“Since I created Project Hail Mary a few years ago, fans have been waiting for more. This is the first step beyond what happens in the book and the movie, something that can only be experienced in mixed reality,” Weir says about the new game.
