MercurySteam has announced that its action game, Blades of Fire, will arrive on Steam on May 14, 2025, following its initial release on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC with a temporary exclusivity on Epic Games Store. This new version 2.0 promises to bring a series of new features and gameplay improvements aimed at revitalizing player interest in the title.
A game that has gone unnoticed on the Epic Games Store
Among the highlighted features of version 2.0 are the New Game+ mode, which will allow players to relive the complete experience of the game with new elements and challenges, as well as the Boss Revival mode, which will offer the opportunity to face the game’s bosses again. Additionally, a new difficulty level called “Titanium” will be added, along with new weapon add-ons and skins, thus enriching the combat system.
In the technical field, the update includes innovations aimed at enhancing the gaming experience, such as variations in death mechanics, improvements in animations, and the implementation of NVIDIA DLSS4 to optimize graphical performance and visual quality. As if that weren’t enough, a Photo Mode will be introduced that will allow players to capture and edit epic moments within the game.
MercurySteam has also released a demo of the game that allows players to try it for free, integrating into the Steam Next Fest event, which will take place before the official launch. The progress made in this demo can be transferred to the full version of the game in May.
Despite receiving positive reviews from players and media, Blades of Fire has not met the sales expectations desired by MercurySteam. Additionally, there have been reports of concerns regarding the work environment at the studio, with testimonies indicating the existence of poor labor practices.
