A game that keeps up with the times

The creators of the game, led by creative director Remy Siu and Tony Howard-Arias, co-founder of Black Tabby Publishing, are interested in exploring the aesthetic concerns that emerge from hyper-realistic graphics. In an exclusive interview with GamesRadar+, Siu emphasizes that his goal is to achieve “a true sense of unsettling discomfort,” pointing out that instead of avoiding the uncanny valley, they want to dive into it and experience what it has to offer. Howard-Arias complements this vision by noting that video games, as a digital medium, are perfectly positioned to leverage these aesthetic tensions, especially in an era where graphical fidelity is a constant pursuit.

Visually, Prove You’re Human plays with the idea of the ‘uncanny valley’, where the images are realistic enough to cause unease. The design of the robot, which has a human face on a body of wires and metal, exemplifies this unsettling aesthetic. While developers embrace these features, they consider that experiences that provoke deliberate discomfort can enrich the game’s narrative.
