The Godzilla phenomenon continues its legacy with the imminent release of Godzilla Minus Zero, the sequel to the acclaimed Godzilla Minus One. This new installment, which will be released on November 3 in Japan, has generated strong expectations following the success of the first film, which, with a budget of only 15 million, managed to gross 116 million at the global box office.

The recently released 45-second teaser suggests a continuity style but with an unexpected twist: Godzilla will venture to the Statue of Liberty, a narrative decision that promises to surprise fans.

45 seconds of pure tension

Directed and written again by Takashi Yamakazi, who also handled the special effects, this sequel aims to maintain the essence of its predecessor while elevating the production with a higher budget, as Godzilla Minus Zero is the first Japanese film shot directly for IMAX.

At CinemaCon, attendees had the opportunity to see a making of that showcased the elaborate sets and miniatures that will bring the confrontation in this new story to life, ranging from destroyed cities to combat aircraft.

Although Godzilla Minus Zero is presented as a separate work from Hollywood’s MonsterVerse, the competition remains active. By 2027, the release of Godzilla X Kong: Supernova is anticipated, which will be the third crossover between the iconic titans, although its approach is expected to be very different from the Japanese proposal.

With rising expectations and a new teaser that has sparked public interest, Godzilla fans won’t have to wait long to enjoy the return of the most famous monster in science fiction cinema.
