'The Night Agent' is one of Netflix's biggest hits, but it may not be renewed

The series The Night Agent has established itself as one of the most-watched productions in Netflix history since its debut in 2023. Now, with the release of its third season on February 19, 2026, the thriller created by Shawn Ryan continues to capture the attention of viewers. This new installment, like the previous ones, consists of 10 episodes that are available on the streaming platform in full.

Will it return at night?

Despite the palpable success of the series, the continuity in the form of a fourth season is still subject to Netflix’s decision. Shawn Ryan, the creator of the series, has expressed his desire to continue exploring the story, indicating that the writing team has already begun working on the plot, although there is still no official confirmation. In statements to Deadline, Ryan stated that since 2025 a writers’ room had been formed and that scripts are already being developed.

However, the pressure on Netflix to make a quick decision is intensifying. Sony Pictures TV has received a tax credit of $31.6 million, which facilitates the start of filming for the fourth season, but requires that filming begins in May 2026. This means that the platform will need to promptly assess the performance of the third season to determine if The Night Agent will continue to be part of its original programming.

As time goes by, Ryan is confident that Netflix will make a decision in the coming weeks. For him, planning new seasons is a familiar process, especially compared to his previous experiences in television, where the workload was considerably greater.
