The entertainment industry remains in constant motion, with several new developments that have captured the attention of fans of video games, series, and movies. In the realm of horror films, directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, known for reviving the Scream franchise, have discussed their unrealized ideas for Scream 7 before leaving the project. In a recent interview, Bettinelli-Olpin revealed that his vision for the sequel was to explore a darker tone, with a focus on intense horror, something that did not come to fruition due to scheduling conflicts.
A movie that has gone through numerous production issues
Radio Silence, the team behind the previous installment of Scream, left the project to work on Abigail, a new film that also involves actress Melissa Barrera, who had been fired from Scream. This decision not only raises curiosity about what could have been achieved with Scream 7, but also poses questions about the future of the franchise. It is said that, had they directed, Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett planned a notably different approach from that established in Scream VI, with a more contained and visceral narrative.
Meanwhile, the new chapter of Scream has achieved the best opening of the saga despite its mixed critical reception, suggesting that the legacy of Ghostface remains strong among viewers. For their part, the directors are ready to return to horror with Ready or Not 2, a film scheduled to be released on March 20. With these changes and new projects, the future of the genre looks promising, offering endless options for horror and suspense lovers.
