The remake of the original game of The Witcher could be delayed quite a bit, according to a report from external analysts

The highly anticipated remake of The Witcher, announced in October 2022, has raised growing concern among fans, as official news has been scarce since its reveal. With the intention of rebuilding the classic RPG from 2007 using Unreal Engine 5, the community eagerly awaits the return of Geralt of Rivia. However, a recent report from Noble Securities suggests that the release of the remake could be delayed until 2028.

According to the analysis by Noble Securities, the decision to postpone the development of the remake is not due to technical issues, but rather a conscious strategy by CD Projekt to prioritize other titles, including The Witcher 4. This decision has led to Fool’s Theory, the studio in charge of the remake, being temporarily reassigned to collaborate on the production of the new title, which has negatively impacted the progress of the remake.

Despite the fact that CD Projekt Red has not officially confirmed this delay and the information is based on an estimate from a banking analysis, the community speculates about the implications of this strategy. The lack of a direct announcement has fueled concerns about the future of the remake, which was supposed to offer an open-world experience similar to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, not just a simple remaster.

Additionally, analyst Mateusz Chrzanowski mentions that the Fool’s Theory team could be developing a major expansion for The Witcher 3. This suggests that the franchise is still active, although fans will have to wait longer than expected to enjoy the remake. In this regard, CD Projekt’s ambition to deeply transform the original game seems to be a firm goal, although the lack of clear updates leaves fans in a state of uncertainty.
