The showrunner of The Simpsons says you won't find out when the series will end while you're watching it

In statements to The Wrap, Selman noted that any conclusion reached will simply be a regular episode, a concept that was reflected in the episode Bart’s Birthday.

“If the show ever ends, there will be no ending; it would be a regular episode that has the family in it,” Selman explained.

With the recent renewal of the series for its 40th season and after concluding season 37, Selman added that there are several Disney Plus specials planned for this year.
