Meanwhile, in the realm of animation, Matt Selman, showrunner of The Simpsons, has confirmed that the series will not have a formal ending. In statements to The Wrap, Selman noted that any conclusion reached will simply be a regular episode, a concept that was reflected in the episode Bart’s Birthday.

“If the show ever ends, there will be no ending; it would be a regular episode that has the family in it,” Selman explained.

The Simpsons will end, but not with a big bang

With the recent renewal of the series for its 40th season and after concluding season 37, Selman added that there are several Disney Plus specials planned for this year.

To the delight of the series’ fans, it has been revealed that a sequel to The Simpsons: The Movie is in development, although its release has been postponed to September 3, 2027. This announcement has generated great anticipation, creating a mix of excitement and disappointment among fans, who are eagerly awaiting more content from Springfield.
