The Wheel of Time ends on Prime Video: the franchise keeps expanding

Amazon Prime Video canceled its live-action Wheel of Time series in May 2025, ending it after three seasons. That version of the adaptation isn’t coming back for a finale, and Amazon hasn’t announced a revival, a follow-up movie, or a final special.

So if you were still hoping Prime Video might wrap up The Wheel of Time on screen, there’s not much pointing in that direction. Reports said the show was dropped for financial reasons, even though season 3 seemed to land better with a lot of critics and fans than the earlier seasons did.

The franchise is still moving, just in different forms

One of them is War of the Dragon: The Wheel of Time. It’s a two-player board game from Dire Wolf Digital built around the Light-versus-Shadow conflict from Robert Jordan’s books, and it has already raised more than $1.16 million on Kickstarter from over 6,156 backers, according to the campaign page. That number makes it pretty clear the fanbase is still there.

Iwot Studios is also teaming up with Arcane producer Thomas Vu on an animated TV series and multiple animated films. That could end up fitting Robert Jordan’s books better anyway, especially with the huge battles, the magic, and the size of the cast.
