The Wheel of Time won’t return: Prime Video ended it after 3 seasons

Prime Video pulled the plug on its live-action version of Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time in May 2025 after three seasons. So no, you’re not getting a fourth and final season in 2027.

The reason seems mostly straightforward: money. Reports said viewership dropped after launch, the costs never really came down, and Prime Video’s The Wheel of Time had only covered a relatively small stretch of Jordan’s 14-book saga, later completed by Brandon Sanderson, even though the series has sold 90 million copies.

Showrunner Rafe Judkins said he was heartbroken and confused. And if you were hoping the fan campaign might move the needle, a petition with 135,000 signatures and even a Times Square billboard still weren’t enough to convince Prime Video, or another streamer, to bring The Wheel of Time back.

If you still want more Wheel of Time, there is more coming, just in other forms. Iwot Studios is still moving forward with animation, movies, and games, including animated projects announced in March 2026 with Arcane producer Thomas Vu, aimed at younger audiences and better suited to the scale of the world.

You can still watch all three seasons of The Wheel of Time on Prime Video, while The White Tower, an Age of Legends movie, and the 2027 board game War of the Dragon: The Wheel of Time are all still in the pipeline after a successful Kickstarter.
