The Witcher 3 Remastered arrives September 29, 2026: Steam Deck and Switch 2 targets revealed

CD Projekt Red says The Witcher 3 Remastered is coming September 29, 2026, and if you already own The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, you’ll get it as a free upgrade. The remaster brings in a new rendering engine and upgraded visuals, and the studio claims it should run “just as well” as the original on Steam Deck.

On Nintendo Switch 2, the target is 1080p while docked and 720p in handheld, with performance landing around 30 to 40fps. VRR support is there too, which should help smooth over that variable frame rate. Early hands-on impressions from Gamescom 2026 mentioned denser foliage, cleaner image quality, and a much stronger overall showing than the old Nintendo Switch version.

If you already have The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, this seems like an easy upgrade to take, especially since it also bundles in Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, along with save and achievement carryover. Still, some players are understandably wary after the rough 2022 next-gen update, and CD Projekt Red’s new PC minimum requirements are higher this time.

You’ll get The Witcher 3 Remastered free if you own the base game, including on Nintendo Switch. CD Projekt Red also says a paid expansion, Songs of the Past, is planned for 2027 for the remastered version.
