The Witcher: Legacy gets a Summer 2027 release: CD Projekt Red’s board game

Go On Board has announced The Witcher: Legacy for summer 2027, an officially licensed board game made with CD Projekt Red. It’s built around story, and it’s set well before Geralt’s time. Players are thrown into the attack on Kaer Morhen and the conspiracy behind the sacking of the School of the Wolf, all through a branching legacy campaign where decisions stick and later sessions change because of them.

You can play The Witcher: Legacy solo or cooperatively with 1 to 4 players. The full campaign is estimated at 25 to 35 hours, which puts it much closer to a story-heavy tabletop RPG-lite than to a fast combat spinoff. And people have clearly latched onto it already: on Gamefound, the campaign has raised more than €10 million and become the platform’s most-followed project. That level of backing also helped add a narrated companion app with multiple language options.

For anyone who wants a premium Witcher tabletop adaptation and not just another piece of merchandise, this seems like one to watch when it arrives. Early previews have highlighted the dense narrative, the co-op focus, the high-end components, and combat built around card combos. Those same previews also point to some drawbacks: a steep learning curve, long setup, and limited replayability once the campaign is finished.
