The year’s most anticipated Spanish strategy RPG finally announces its release date

Prelude: Dark Pain, an anticipated turn-based Tactical RPG, has finally got a release date. It will launch July 27 on Steam in Early Access, including the game’s entire first chapter, adding up to around 15 hours of gameplay. The plan is to keep it in Early Access for about a year, and the developers will expand and polish the game during this time.

A game inspired by the classics

Created by Quickfire Games, a Spanish studio making its debut with Prelude: Dark Pain after a very successful Kickstarter, this Tactical RPG draws inspiration from games like Final Fantasy Tactics or Tactics Ogre Reborn, combining that with a distinctive dark aesthetic and a carefully crafted narrative to offer a different experience that fans of the genre and newcomers will both enjoy. It’s a perfect gateway into the genre.

Telling the story of Estátera, a world ravaged by the Dark Pain, we will take on the role of a group of brave souls who will stand against the Order of the Crusade of Ashes, who rule this land marked by suffering with blood and fire. With decisions that will shape how the story unfolds and 20 playable characters to unlock, the game puts a strong emphasis on its narrative.

With its launch imminent and generating a lot of buzz, Prelude: Dark Pain may be one of the year’s most striking indies. And if you’re still not entirely convinced, there’s a demo on its Steam page if you want to try it. The lands of Estátera await you on July 27.
