Pirates of the Caribbean is one of Disney‘s most important franchises, and as such it is not surprising that they want to continue releasing movies in the future. Despite the fourth and fifth parts being quite disappointing, the studio is behind new projects, and now producer Jerry Bruckheimer has confirmed that there are two projects in development.
One of these movies will be a spin-off of the saga with Margot Robbie as the protagonist. And the other one a reboot of the franchise, of which we still have no clues. Taking into account these projects, it seems quite clear that Johnny Depp has been discarded and will not return to play the pirate Jack Sparrow… or will he?

What will happen to Jack Sparrow?
In his speech, the producer made it clear that, if it were up to him, Depp’s door to the saga remains open: “It’s a reboot, but if it were up to me, he would be in the movie. I adore him, he’s a good friend. He’s a great artist and has a unique look. He created Captain Jack Sparrow. It wasn’t in the script, it was him doing a bit of Pepe Le Pew and Keith Richards. That was his interpretation of Jack Sparrow.”
