The power of artificial intelligence is tremendous. Not only can we admire its work with ChatGPT-style tools, but we can also enjoy its power in the audiovisual field.
An AI research company, Runway, has just unveiled the second generation of its Motion Brush tool, which assists in animating aspects of AI-generated images, such as those created in Midjourney.
The simple brush tool for animating images seems like magic, which is always the case when AI is done right. The following video, shared by Rory Flynn, an AI enthusiast, demonstrates the new tool in action.
A tool that can transform audiovisual creation
Many creators are already having fun with the Motion Brush tool, bringing static images to life: trucks moving along dirt roads, nature panoramas, people and animals in motion, leaves twisting in the wind, and shifting clouds.
Runway also showcased examples like waterfalls, fish in a fish tank, fire, and the smoke from a lit cigarette in motion.
Some of the functions you can use together are the Motion Brush and Camera Controls, allowing you to set aspects of the image to move while the camera sweeps or zooms at the same time.
Its interface resembles that of most image or video editors. You’ll have access to different functions and limitations in the service, depending on your pricing tier, which includes Basic, Standard, Pro, Unlimited, or Enterprise. Currently, the Motion Brush tool is in beta phase, so it’s available to all Runway members.
In addition to the motion brush update, Runway has recently introduced new Gen-2 style presets and updated camera controls, among other features, as reported by the company on their X profile (formerly Twitter).
Signing up for Runway is free, and registration options include Google or Apple accounts. There’s also a single-use login available for the Enterprise level.
