‘This Is Going To Hurt,’ ‘The Responder,’ lead 2023 BAFTA TV nominations

The Responder and This is Going To Hurt, BBC dramas are in the nominations lead for this year’s BAFTA Craft and BAFTA TV awards with six nominations each. Martin Freeman and Ben Wishaw have received the thumbs up in the leading actor category for their performances.

Recommissioned for a second series Dancing Ledge’s The Responder makes the best drama series list, while Sister’s This is Going To Hurt is up for the best drama mini-series. Between these two dramas, the BBC achieved 81 nominations, 34 BAFTA Craft, and 47 BAFTA TV nominations.

The BBC scored more than twice as many nods as the runner-up channels with:

  • Channel 4 = 33
  • Netflix = 24
  • ITV = 19
  • Apple TV+ = 15
  • Sky = 14
  • Disney+ = 8

Slow Horses, The English, The Crown, and Bad Sisters follow closely behind with five nominations each.

BAFTA Awards 2023 Lead Nominations

Sunday, 14 May, the 2023 BAFTA TV Awards will take place at London’s Royal Festival Hall and will be hosted by comedians Romesh Ranganathan and Rob Beckett and broadcast on BBC1. While on April 23, the BAFTA TV Craft Awards at The Brewery in London.
