In the realm of remastering, Todd Howard, executive producer of Bethesda, has revealed a notable change in his stance regarding the remastering of classic games.
In a recent interview with GamesRadar+, he stated that he was “more open” to the idea of remastering titles, starting with The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. This development comes as the 20th anniversary of the iconic RPG is celebrated, which Howard considers a pure example of what the philosophy of Bethesda games represents.
He is open to remastering, but does not feel obligated
Despite these advancements, the gaming community has expressed its concerns about the expectations surrounding Oblivion Remastered, especially after rumors and leaks that have surrounded the project.
Howard mentioned that these leaks have generated anxiety among players, as expectations may not align with the reality of the release.
On the other hand, Howard also highlighted the importance of the Xbox game preservation program, which allows players to enjoy classic titles like Morrowind and Fallout 3 on modern consoles, improved in terms of resolution and smoothness.
“They have done an incredible job with backward compatibility,” he said, emphasizing that it is essential for players to access these titles in their original form.
