Tom Holland has shared his excitement for the upcoming Christopher Nolan film, The Odyssey, describing it as “an absolute masterpiece.” The actor, who plays Telemachus, the son of Odysseus, emphasized that the film is “one of a kind” and that, while watching it, he found himself asking questions he hadn’t posed about a movie in a long time, such as “how did they achieve that?”.

Nolan is known for his focus on practical effects instead of CGI, which enhances the authenticity of his productions. Holland expressed his amazement at the technique and planning behind the scenes, indicating that there were moments when he thought certain sequences had to be computer-generated, only to find out that everything was filmed in-camera, further proof of the director’s mastery.
The film, which is a new interpretation of Homer’s work, features a renowned cast that includes Matt Damon, Robert Pattinson, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, and Lupita Nyong’o. The production has been extensive, with nearly 2 million feet of footage and filming at sea using “real waves,” highlighting the ambition of the project.
Holland also commented on the impact that Nolan’s hands-on approach can have on the audience, as it offers a fresh alternative to the computer-generated visual effects that dominate many of the big summer releases. The film will premiere in theaters on July 17, and fans are eager to discover the stunning sequences and the elaborate story that Nolan has prepared.
With The Odyssey, Nolan seems to be preparing to continue his cinematic legacy, and undoubtedly, this production promises to be one of the standout releases of the year.
