Trump Mobile T1 is now available for $499: early hands-ons say it’s poor value

Trump Mobile T1, the Trump-branded Android phone, is finally on sale for $499 after launch dates kept moving and, for months, it wasn’t even clear the thing would actually ship.

Some buyers and reviewers do now have Trump Mobile T1 units in hand. Deliveries still look uneven, though.

Early hands-on reports paint a pretty rough picture: a dated, chunky gold plastic phone with loud branding, awkward handling, weak cameras, basic mid-range specs, and not much value for the money. On top of that, side-by-side comparisons and teardowns point to the Trump Mobile T1 being mostly a rebadged 2024 HTC U24 Pro. That also makes Trump Mobile’s original “made in the USA” claim look even less convincing, especially now that the site has backed off that language and switched to vaguer talk about American values.

There are a few throwback extras here. You get a 3.5mm headphone jack, a microSD slot, a notification light, a charger, a case, and a braided USB cable, along with the political add-ons, including a $47.45 plan and the Truth Social app preinstalled. Even so, if you’re after a good Android phone, the Trump Mobile T1 isn’t worth buying, especially with reports of about 590,000 $100 deposits, accusations that it was vaporware, and a data breach that affected some preorder customers.
