TV Time shuts down on July 15: export your data before it’s deleted

TV Time, the app a lot of people relied on to keep track of TV series and movies, is shutting down on July 15, 2026. That brings one of the best-known services for logging shows and films to an end.

Whip Media, TV Time’s parent company, says the free service just isn’t financially sustainable anymore and that demand for a subscription version was too weak. You can also read the shutdown as part of Whip Media’s shift toward enterprise products after Blue Torch Capital acquired the company in 2025. However you look at it, it’s a bleak ending for a platform that, by Whip Media’s own numbers, had 25 million registered users, 26 million lifetime installs, and a feature set that let people log episodes and films, build watchlists, get recommendations, rate titles, join forums, and check their annual REWIND recap.

If you still use TV Time, you should export your viewing history and account data through the app’s GDPR tool before July 15. Whip Media says personal data will be permanently deleted after that date.

You can already see the disappointment all over social media as users move to Trakt, Serializd, or Simkl. Some users say those services are already dealing with server strain, and the shutdown also lines up with a broader pattern of once-popular consumer entertainment tools getting folded, sold, or pushed aside.

You can still use the TV Time app on its current platforms until July 15, 2026, to request your data export.
