Twitter is launching a new recommendations notification service that tells you when multiple people you follow retweet the same thing, or follow the same person.
This will be a push notification for iOS and Android users, and can be toggled in Twitter’s settings. It’s designed so you don’t miss out on any important goings on in your Twitter feed. Being away for a few hours means you really can miss things, or when you re-connect lots of people are talking about something you didn’t see. With recommendations, you should be able to stay on top of important developments, without being stuck on Twitter all day.
These recommendations were developed using a special Twitter account, @MagicRecs, which sent ‘instant, personalized recommendations for users and content via direct message.’ That account is very popular with its 20,000 or so followers, and they will continue to get DMs instead of notifications, according to Twitter.
