Warner Bros confirms that Hogwarts Legacy 2 is in development

They announced it in a brief statement saying “we expect the games division to contribute more significantly to the segment’s profitability in the future as our slate of projects expands, including the Hogwarts Legacy sequel“.

A game with no further details

Unfortunately, they haven’t given any more information about it. Nor have they confirmed which studio will be developing it or when we can expect the game to be released. That makes any expectation of seeing the game before 2029 or 2030, to say the least, extremely optimistic.

In any case, this is news that makes perfect sense. The original game sold 40 million copies, making it an massive commercial success. Although it was accompanied by a great deal of controversy, by virtue of being a Harry Potter game, and and an equally significant controversy, because of how the game portrayed house-elves —following the way Rowling portrayed them in the books—, the game was a success and is still beloved by fans of the franchise. Who can now breathe easy knowing that it will get a sequel.
