During these last years, we have witnessed how big companies have become the target of cybercriminals. And even names like Rockstar have not been able to escape from this evil. First, it was the images and videos that showed gameplay of GTA VI. Then, its highly anticipated trailer. Now, one of the perpetrators of these attacks has been sentenced to life imprisonment.

His name is Arion Kurtaj. At just 18 years old, this young man from the United Kingdom and member of Lapsus$ was key in leaking the images of GTA VI to the world. His actions have resulted in him being ultimately sentenced to life imprisonment in a hospital prison, as reported by the BBC.

Rockstar has not been the only target of the Lapsus$ band. Uber and NVIDIA also suffered attacks from this group of hackers, whose damages reached almost 10 million dollars.

However, perhaps the most surprising thing about all this is how Kurtaj carried out his last cyber attack. At that time, the young man was being guarded by the police in a hotel for hacking Uber and NVIDIA. As expected, Kurtaj did not have access to his laptop, but he managed to successfully attack Rockstar. What did he use for this? An Amazon Firestick, the hotel’s television, and a mobile phone.

In August of this same year, a London jury charged Kurtaj with all these criminal charges. However, his autism made him considered unfit to stand trial.

Kurtaj, on the other hand, expressed his intention to “return to cybercrime” as soon as possible. His current sentence will require him to remain in a hospital prison for life, as long as doctors do not consider him a danger.
