There’s no doubt that this year belongs to Pedro Pascal. Ever since 2023 began and The Last of Us premiered, the actor has been constantly in the spotlight, from his role as Joel to his return as Din Djarin in The Mandalorian. But his fame isn’t solely due to these Disney Plus and HBO Max hits; it’s also gaining traction through a relatively unknown film available on Netflix: We Can Be Heroes.

Despite being a 2020 film, this Robert Rodriguez movie with vibes reminiscent of Spy Kids has made its way into Netflix‘s Global Top 10, specifically at number 6. This is largely due to a change in Netflix’s ranking system, which previously counted views within the first 28 days but now includes the first 91 days.

We Can Be Heroes: the trendy movie for the little ones

We Can Be Heroes was released during Christmas 2020 and was a hit among kids. However, due to its target audience, it didn’t gain much traction on social media or with film critics. Nevertheless, since its release, it has continued to gain fans and has become a sort of Netflix classic.

In fact, Robert Rodriguez has confirmed We Can Be Heroes 2, a sequel to the film that was initially planned for production in 2022 but has been delayed. We can expect to hear more news about this movie soon, with Pedro Pascal returning as the lead once again.

But what is We Can Be Heroes about? The movie follows the story of a group of children whose superhero parents are kidnapped by alien invaders. In order to save their parents and the world, the kids must come together and learn to work as a team. It is actually a sequel to the 2005 film The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3D, also directed by Robert Rodriguez.
