We have a new Cyclops for the X-Men, and he’s simply perfect

In September 1963, X-Men was born in Marvel comics, a group of mutants who swore to protect the world that hated them. And although now there are hundreds of them, at first there were only six: Professor X, Angel, Iceman, Marvel Girl. Beast and, of course, the team’s leader, Cyclops. Over the years, Cyclops has been through all kinds of transformations, interdimensional visits, time travel with his son, and even the death and resurrection of his wife. Not much.

Don’t look me in the eyes

In the movies, Cyclops has been played by James Marsden, in his most typical portrayal (in fact, he’ll return to the movies in Avengers: Doomsday), but also by Tim Pocock and Tye Sheridan. However, the MCU has already looked for a new actor to replace them, and it has cast Heartstopper and Warfare’s Kit Connor.

Kit Connor’s name may not mean anything to you, but the truth is that this 22-year-old actor started out as a standout on stage and moved into film, appearing in projects like The Wild Robot, Rocketman, and the upcoming Elden Ring. He’s being called one of Hollywood’s next big stars, and as shown by the fact that Marvel hasn’t wasted any time casting him as the leader of the most famous mutant group in history.

It remains to be seen exactly who the rest of the X-Men will be, and in fact Kevin Feige is expected to announce it at the next D23, later this month. Until then, all that’s left is to hold back the urge for a new mutant era in the MCU. Whether it will be the last or not depends only on the audience.
