We need to talk about the most concerning detail from the Pokémon leak: Poképhilia.

The other day, a hacker group broke into Game Freak’s files and leaked a good handful of things from both the new Pokémon games and alternative designs—even unused creatures—which has led to many discussions about the future of Switch 2. However, there has been one piece of information among them that has turned the most innocent of creatures, Typhlosion, the starter from Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver, into one of the most disturbing in the history of the franchise. Watch out because you didn’t see this one coming.

Typhlosion, get back in the Pokéball, for heaven’s sake!

If we didn’t know it was a real leak, this information would remain within the realm of urban legends, and rightly so. Consider that if it wasn’t made public, there’s a reason for it, and it should always remain in the world of “What if” and not in the canon of Pokémon games. With this in mind, let’s see why Typhlosion got a human woman pregnant. Yes, you read that correctly.

In total, there were three texts trying to find the “Original Sin” in the saga, which for some reason they decided to explore. The first story is about a woman who usually hunted Slakoth for fun. She encounters one hanging from a tree, decides to help it, and in doing so, falls to the ground. The Pokémon helps her get back on her feet, but she discovers that she has become pregnant by the Slakoth, whose creature she decides to care for as if it were her own child.

Her friends, upon arriving home and seeing the Pokémon, decide to do what they always did: stab and kill it, something that eventually drives her crazy. In another story, a man has relations with an Octillery and ends up taking care of their child after a gore scene that is not worth reproducing. But the one that has impacted people the most is the story of the Typhlosion.

In it, a girl gets lost in the forest and somehow ends up marrying a Typhlosion that was pretending to be a man. They both have a child and get married (or at least consider themselves husband and wife). When the girl’s father goes to look for her in the forest, the Typhlosion confronts him and dies. She tells her father, just as her poke-husband had asked her, “Please, give me my husband, the eyes of the Typhlosion, the voice, and the heart.”

Then she proceeds to burn them at the stake. Finally, and after the hatred from the rest of the people, she and her son decide to escape into the forest to never be seen again, and for the world to learn that Typhlosion are half-human. Obviously, the Internet couldn’t overlook something like this, and there are hundreds of memes, drawings accusing Octillery and Slakoth, risqué stories with Typhlosion, and absolute bewilderment upon learning that the creators of Game Freak were actually Pokémon fanfic writers (based on classic Japanese tales, it must be said). Perhaps it’s not worth remembering while we play their games, so as not to traumatize ourselves…
