Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn have broken up after six years of relationship. The news of the breakup comes as Taylor Swift is touring across the country and they have yet to make a statement about it. But everyone is taking them for granted.
Over the years, the famous couple have kept their cards close to their chests, with the English actor, 32, and the Grammy winner, 33, avoiding engagement rumors.
A relationship they carried on in secret and in music
Taylor Swift began dating the Boy Erased actor in 2016. The couple began collaborating on music together during the pandemic, which culminated in a Grammy Awards win.
The Grammy winner and Alwyn managed to keep their relationship under wraps, but in true Taylor Swift style, the singer dropped some Easter eggs on Alwyn through her music.

In January, Swift revealed on her Instagram that “Lavender Haze,” a song from her 2022 album “Midnights,” is about Alwyn, saying that when you’re on a lavender cloud of love, “you’ll do anything to stay there and not let people take you off that cloud.”
Taylor Swift confirmed the true identity in the Disney+ documentary “Folklore: the long pond studio sessions” that same year, where she said Alwyn “plays piano beautifully and is always playing and making things up and kind of creating things.”
The 2020 sister albums Folklore and Evermore each featured collaborations with Alwyn, who wrote several songs under the pseudonym William Bowery. Folklore ended up taking home the 2021 Grammy for album of the year and Evermore was nominated for the same award at the 2022 ceremony.
There was also speculation in 2019 that the then-couple were engaged when Taylor Swift wrote bridal-leaning songs on “Lover,” the title track of the album she released that year. Clearly, it was all a lie.
