The most repeated meme on the Internet for Nintendo lovers is the one that says “when will the new Nintendo Direct take place”. Well, we already know the date: today, Wednesday, February 8. To be exact, the event will take place tonight from 23:00 Spanish peninsular time.

In the tweet published by Nintendo on its official account, the Japanese company points out that this show will last a total of 40 minutes, where it will “mainly” announce video games that will be released during the first half of the year. And that “mainly” is the key to everything, as it gives us some clues.

When Nintendo punctuates its tweets with such words, the idea is that users know precisely what to watch out for so as not to form unnecessary snowballs. Thus, it would be normal to see footage of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, for example, since its release is scheduled for May 12, i.e. within the first half of this year 2023 (besides, we have seen almost nothing of this new adventure, so it’s about time). Similarly, we should see something of Octopath Traveler II (February 24), Kirby’s Return to Dreamland Deluxe (February 24) and Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot (which was to be released last year, but was delayed by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine).

But does it mean that this is only from the first half? No, that’s why it’s “mainly”. Nintendo will also announce games coming out from July 1 onwards. It’s not the first time it’s done this, so we’re likely to see dates for previously unreported titles.

Likewise, the event will be both first party and third-party. In other words, not only video games developed by Nintendo itself will appear, but also those from other companies. Usually, if it were exclusive to some of these fields, the Japanese usually specify it, and this has not been the case in particular.

We are eager to see what Kyoto has prepared for us after several months of silence. Hopefully there will be many surprises so that we have Nintendo Switch for a while.
