Fairy Tail is one of the most popular shonen manga and anime of the 21st century. Published from 2006 to 2017 by Hiro Mashima, it reached its peak by surpassing other leading series in rankings and competing against One Piece and Naruto. However, Mashima quickly showed that he had much more to offer, and after Fairy Tail, he launched Edens Zero, a new success with a legion of fans.

Now, Mashima wants to make another change in his career direction, and for that, he has announced Dead Rock, a new manga that draws inspiration from his distinctive style but aims to offer a completely original adventure set in a new universe that will surprise fans of his previous works.

Dead Rock release date

But when will Dead Rock be released? The release date for the first issue has already been revealed: on July 6th, the manga will start serialization in Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Magazine. From then on, the story will continue with each new issue of the magazine, with occasional breaks like One Piece.

For international readers, official translations of Dead Rock will be available, although the publishing company that will hold the rights has not been announced yet. It remains to be seen if there will be an anime adaptation as well. If it follows the success of Fairy Tail and Edens Zero, we can expect news on that front soon.

Dead Rock will be a dark fantasy manga and will feature an academy where candidates for the future demon king are trained. We will follow a young demon whose goal is to pass the exams at the demon academy and overcome the various challenges that lie ahead.
