Why do all LinkedIn posts sound the same? The answer doesn’t look good.

Is it just me, or do almost all LinkedIn posts seem to be written with the same pattern? A question we’ve probably asked ourselves more than once, and one that is answered by a recent Pangram Labs report, which found that more than 40% of the long posts we see on the platform are generated entirely by an LLM. The presence of content written by artificial intelligence has no doubt become normalized on social media, but it seems Microsoft’s professional network is well ahead by quite a margin.

An ecosystem saturated with AI-generated content

Produced with Pangram 3.3, which boasts a false positive rate of 0.01%, the study analyzed thousands of posts to determine how many came from systems like ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini. The results show that LinkedIn tops the list of platforms with the highest proportion of AI-generated content, accounting for 62% of all posts identified as AI-generated. 

The situation perhaps shouldn’t come as a surprise to us, since LinkedIn’s own “Enhance post” tool encourages the use of AI in writing. But, in any case, it explains why our LinkedIn feed has an increasingly uniform tone.

Although the spotlight is on LinkedIn, Pangram Labs also analyzed other platforms. On X and Substack almost one in two long posts involves artificial intelligence to some extent. 

While it’s true that text structure plays an enormously important role in how it’s categorized by these systems, the fact is that the presence of AI-generated content is growing rapidly on the internet. Bad news? Good news? As Satya Nadella warns us, maybe it’s just something we need to keep in mind.
