Will Smith has teamed up with 2026’s big superstar to make sure his next movie is a hit

No one knew Jaafar Jackson until a few months ago, but he’s quickly become a superstar… even if it’s by trading on his uncle’s image. After Michael, projects have started pouring in, and the next thing he’s chosen before the biopic sequel (most of which has already been shot) is a thriller starring Will Smith.

The film in question, Supermax, has already been in the works for years and will follow two FBI agents who investigate an impossible murder within the confines of a maximum-security prison. Alongside Smith will be AnnaSophia Robb, and Jackson is supposed to have a vital role in the film or, otherwise, they wouldn’t have cast him in it, right in the middle of building his career as an actor.

Of course, at 30, it can’t be easy to clear $1 billion with your first film, but the actor and singer is willing to go wherever he has to so it’s clear to everyone that he’s not just a one-hit wonder. It remains to be seen how the public reacts to another Smith movie, since he still faces some backlash after the famous slap at the Oscars.

Since then he’s kept a low profile and has only made two films: one released straight to streaming and another, a Bad Boys sequel that at least reassured him he wasn’t box-office poison. Will Supermax be the film that finally wins the public back… Or will Jackson be the one who brings in the fans? We’ll see in a few years.
