Microsoft has released a fix for the mouse lag problem that some gamers had after updating to Windows 8.1. Soon after 8.1 was released, people found that when running games like Call of Duty or Counter Strike, the mouse would stutter and lag, making the games unplayable.

The problem occurred because Windows 8.1 changed how it read mouse input. Games that didn’t use ‘Raw Input (or DirectInput) for mouse control then didn’t play properly. The problems was bad enough that we recommended gamers wait to update Windows until the problem had been fixed, and Microsoft has been pretty quick to serve this update.
