Last week, I showed you the process of how to install an app on the Windows 8 Modern UI. It was pretty easy, right?
If you’re anything like me, you probably went a little overboard and now you have a bunch of apps you just don’t need or want anymore. I’m a big fan of cleanliness over clutter (despite my proclivity to install every interesting app in sight), but uninstalling the apps you no longer want might not be as intuitive as you’d think.
The good news is it’s an easy task to handle once you know the process. Here’s how you can uninstall an app on the Windows 8 Modern UI in just three simple steps for mouse and keyboard users plus touchscreen users, combined.
Mouse and keyboard users
1.Locate the app you want to delete on the Start screen and right click on it.
This will bring up a slide bar on the bottom of your screen with an Uninstall button as the section option from the left.
2. If you app doesn’t happen to be pinned to your Start screen, just right click on any app and choose the All apps button on the far right of the slide screen that appears.
From there, you’ll be able to see all of the apps you have installed. Locate the one you want to delete, right click on it, and choose the Uninstall option from the start screen.
1. You can’t right-click with a touchscreen, but you can still easily uninstall any app you like in the Windows 8 Modern UI. Just touch and hold over the app in question (or any app if the one you want to delete doesn’t appear on the Start screen) and the same slide screen you’d get in the first example will appear for you now. From there, just repeat the steps above. In a matter a seconds, you’ll have uninstalled any apps you no longer want.
That’s how it’s done. While Windows 8 won’t be officially released until October 26th, the Windows 8 Consumer Preview is available already. Have you given it a try yet?
