World of Warcraft: Forever is official: Blizzard announces permanent Classic+

Blizzard has put a date on World of Warcraft: Forever. The permanent Classic+ version of World of Warcraft launches worldwide on November 4, 2026, and Blizzard is treating it as a real third pillar for the franchise, right alongside retail World of Warcraft and World of Warcraft Classic.

Blizzard says World of Warcraft: Forever returns to 2004-era Azeroth with the original level 60 cap and builds on what Season of Discovery started. It also adds three new zones, more than 1,000 quests, nine new dungeons, two new raids, horizontal progression, the new Skyborne Elves, and fresh race-class combinations such as Forsaken Paladins and Dwarf Shamans. Updated lighting and water are part of the package too, though the idea seems to be keeping the classic atmosphere intact rather than pushing the game all the way into retail-style visuals.

The way Blizzard is pitching it, World of Warcraft: Forever is meant to be a long-term home, not a seasonal reset and not just a nostalgia side mode. Early reaction has been pretty positive, even if some players are still wary of optional cosmetics, yet another version of World of Warcraft, and the chance that Classic gets diluted or the community ends up split between too many versions.

If you want classic World of Warcraft’s slower, more social pace and still want something actually new to stumble across, this looks worth grabbing.

Blizzard says you’ll be able to play World of Warcraft: Forever worldwide on November 4, 2026. The beta starts on September 17, 2026, and it’ll be included with a standard World of Warcraft subscription.
