Yahoo! finally joins the likes of Google, Apple, Facebook, and many more in integrating two-step verification for its users’ accounts. Two-step verification is a security measure that makes is tougher for hackers to gain access to your account. Similar to Google’s implementation of two-step verification, Yahoo! now requires verification of your identity via your mobile number or a security question when authorizing new browsers and devices.
Unfortunately, not all Yahoo! apps (Mail for Android and iOS) will take two-step verification and that’s where App Passwords come in. Yahoo! gives users the ability to create a temporary, randomized password to be used for that specific app. Once you’re logged in with that temporary, password, you won’t need it again unless you log out. This makes sure that only authorized apps have access to your Yahoo! information.
