If you’re paying attention to social media, you’ve probably seen a trend called AI Yearbook. This involves imagining how you would look if you were popular in high school in the 1980s and early 1990s.
Teased hair, bandanas, plaid caps, and lots of colors. Fashion in that decade reached the highest imaginable point, and now we can imagine how we would look if we had been born about 10/20 years earlier.
How to make the yearbook of the AI that is sweeping the Internet
Seeing yourself in scenarios created by AI is not new. After all, Instagram has been taken over by our friends to become anime characters or classic paintings, all thanks to artificial intelligence.

Now, we have a rising trend, but with a nostalgic touch. If you’ve never been curious about what you would look like in one of those vintage yearbook photos, now you can find out. And the responsible party is the app called Epik, one of the most comprehensive ones in the AI market.
The AI yearbook photos come in various matching styles and poses, so you can be a sports star, one of the popular kids, a classic chess team nerd, and much more. If you’re unsure, just watch a couple of 80s movies and choose your style. Here are the steps:
- Click on the Apple Store or Google Play Store to download Epik. The application itself is free, but the AI yearbook filter costs between $5.99 and $9.99 ($15.50). You’ll have to pay for the filter when you use it in the app.
- After downloading Epik, go to Instagram and search for Epik’s dedicated creators’ account. Tap the link in the account’s bio. You will be redirected back to the Epik app.
- The AI yearbook filter is the most popular feature of the app right now. So, when you return to the Epik app, you should be able to see the banner that says, “90s Throwback: Create 60 versions of you” on the app’s home page. Tap the “Try the AI yearbook” button, and then tap “Try now.”
- Before proceeding, Epik provides several warnings about the filter. Epik states that its AI system is “constantly learning to improve its results,” so the generated photos may not always be satisfactory.

And that’s it, now it’s up to you to choose the best photo and style that suits your personality and vibe. Once you’re done, you can show the yearbook to your parents and see what they think. It’s definitely worth it!
