Zeverland is coming soon to Steam: Rust and Minecraft-style zombie survival

Zeverland is on the way to PC through Steam. Shanghai studio Quantum Quirks has announced it as a coming-soon release, and the Steam page describes a co-op zombie survival sandbox that blends the base-building pressure of Rust with the open-ended crafting people usually expect from Minecraft.

Quantum Quirks, the Shanghai team behind it, says the game is now centered on fully cooperative PvE. That shift came after playtest feedback pushed the studio away from the PvPvE setup it originally had in mind.

Per the Steam description, players can survive solo or with friends by scavenging, crafting, building shelters and bases, and fighting off zombies across a 24 x 24 km post-apocalyptic map. The world is split into multiple biomes with different infection levels, so the idea is to move from safer regions into more dangerous ones if you want better materials.

The studio also says you can combine nearly any two items to make tools or weapons, and infection doesn’t mean you’re done. If your character gets infected, you can keep going as a “Zed” with a new set of abilities. Visually, the game leans cartoonish and toy-like, which makes for a sharp contrast with the darker routine of fortifying your base and holding out through attacks.

Quantum Quirks says player-hosted servers, vehicle customization, and expanded farming and fishing are also planned for later. If you’re after a zombie sandbox that leans hard on teamwork and experimentation, this looks like one to pick up when it arrives.

You can wishlist Zeverland on Steam for PC now.
