Keep track of your freelance work and accounts
Fanurio is a program designed for freelancers. It lets you manage your work time and invoices.
Freelancing can be a little disconcerting if you're not well organized. You need to get into a good work rhythm and make sure you get paid on time. Fanurio lets you organize your work by client and projects. You can also set the rate at which you're being billed for each project and track your work time.
Fanurio makes it easy to create custom templates for invoices and print them out for multiple projects. The default templates already includes columns for things like billing, rate or time but you can rearrange them how you want and even add your own.
In all, the interface is fairly easy to work with although it lacks a proper startup guide to get you going. The easiest is to start by entering your clients and then making projects. Thanks to the list view on the left side of the interface you'll be able to find and organize all your clients, projects and invoices easily.
Fanurio is a no-fuss, straightforward application for serious freelancers looking for a simple solution to handle their clients, projects and invoices.

Records your time at the computer, then creates invoice..
I am a web designer who would often forget to keep track of billable time. I would begin working, and get lost in the task before me, and have no idea of how long I was at it. I spent many hours spread over months trying to find a time management utility that would help me get paid for the time I put into a project, but every program I tried was little more than a stopwatch with extra bells and whistles. If I forgot to start or stop the program manually, my time was not recorded; my problem was forgetting to keep track of my time in the first place, so these were of no help. Fanurio surprised me with their approach- a pop-up reminder appears (at an interval I set) to ask if I had intended to start or stop timing my activity. It registers keyboard/mouse inactivity, which saves me when I walk away from the computer for any reason (phone call, nap). Of course, I can stop or start timing manually as well.
Time (as well as actual out of pocket expenses) that I do choose to record can be assigned a new or existing customer, new or existing project within that customer, and new or existing item within that project. Time can be moved, reassigned, added and otherwise edited.
Invoices can be generated based on a number of criteria, and formatted via an integrated template editor. The templates are based on open-source 'Freemarker template language' (see sourceforge.net), and can be fully modified using a text or html editor. Fanurio offers free template editing to their customers, but this is right up my alley, so I modify my own.
It's a mistake to think of Fanurio as simply an invoice creator. It is a huge help to those who freelance at the computer.
Pros:
Very effective time tracking.
Stable- I've been using it for three years without any lost data.
Inexpensive.
Very responsive email support
Exports as pdf or html
Cons:
The stock invoice templates are a little plain.
Total disclosure: I'm really an enthusiastic user - I'm not associated with Fanurio! More
