A simpler alternative to GIMP
Pinta is a neat drawing and editing tool inspired by Paint.NET, which aims to work as an simpler, easier-to-use alternative to GIMP.
This means you shouldn't expect Pinta to be some kind of open source Photoshop clone. It does include some interesting features like support for layers, unlimited undo and redo, and a bunch of special filters and effects to spice up your images – but its nothing like a serious photo editor. It does, however, include a nice selection of drawing tools that can make Pinta a good choice as photo editor.
According to Pinta's developer, the program is still at an early stage of development – which may be the reason why some of its tools are not available yet. In any case, Pinta does look promising, so we'll keep an eye on this handy little editor as it grows.
Pinta is a simple drawing utility and image editor with a clean interface and an interesting set of tools.

Not Working.
I cannot get this on my computer. Every time I download it, it always quits unexpectedly five seconds after I open it.
Pros: Nothing
Cons:
It won't download on my computer More

Good looker but doesn't deliver.
I downloaded Pinta onto my Mac running Maverick.
Nice looking simple layout - fast reaction.
Trouble is, it crashes often and work can not be recovered.
Quite useful for creating something simple, copy, paste and use the result in another programme that won't do what Pinta does. More

@Crashes all the time.
Pinta is now updated so try re-downloading it and installing it. However, the developers state that 1.0 is unstable on Lion at the moment due to a lack of Mac testers. There is a beta version you can try on the developer site but the same caution applies. This program will be re-reviewed in due course.

problem with pinta.
I installed pinta and monoframework on my mac, but when I try to open a file with Pinta, or to create a new one, the program crasches. Every time. Maybe I did something wrong during the installation, but I can't understand what. If you have any suggestion please tell me. Thank youSorry for the bad marks, but I couldn't utilize it. More
