A video player with interesting embedded features
It seems that the highly populated market of video players still has room for more, as we can tell from the launch of Quack Player.
This video player features a slicky interface with support for skins and can play the most popular video formats. Its aim of simplicity is expressed both through the player's design itself and also its usability.
A feature I particularly liked about Quack Player was the ability to adjust the brightness, saturation, contrast and hue of the image, besides tweaking sound as well by means of an equalizer. You can also capture certain frames with the embedded snapshot tool.
However, there are a few points where Quack Player needs to improve a lot: first, it needs a proper playlist - showing just the name of the file it's currently playing is not a playlist. Second, the snapshot tool shouldn't pause playback while capturing the image – I'd never seen that before. And third, the Preferences menu can't be opened while playing a video, because playback will be completely stopped – and that's really annoying.
Quack Player is an attractive and promising video player but it needs to fix all of its flaws in order to earn a place in this competitive market.
