Repair Long-Lost Picture Memories
RS File Repair is a piece of software that repairs broken or damaged computer images in several file formats: JPG JPEG JPE JFIF TIFF TIF and PNG. Whether an image has been rendered inaccessible and won't display at all or it's simply corrupted and no longer looks how it should this piece of software analyses it and takes efficient and logical steps to repair it good as new.
Don't Lose A Thing
For JPEG PNG and TIFF RS File Repair supports lossless recovery. Many other utilities will re-save your file with some colour or other information lost but that won't happen here. In fact most of the software's features are focused on ensuring that nothing is lost upon recovering the file. It splices broken images back together and unscrambles corrupted data to make an image readable again. But before doing all of this it performs an analysis to make absolutely sure it won't further damage the image. That's the kind of care your images need!
All Cleaned Up
The only major omission here is the fact that few formats are supported. GIF is common for many image types and BMP is common in general though JPG and JPEG are the most common for photos so most users won't see many problems. Since it even manages to save metadata we feel confident in saying RS File Repair is simply a good all-in-one photo retrieval solution.

Unable to repair and a pain to uninstall.
Not free either.
Forget it

Eh, $$$? no, thanks.
I have no idea what I think of this program -- the only thing free is the download. You can't actually USE the program without paying. So, can't tell if it is worth paying for or not.
Cons:
a way to actually try it to see if it is worth spending money on More

Not free at all.
Program is not free, regardless of what it says. After you've added files to be repaired, you are forced to either register the program ( Cost money ) or give up on repairing them. That's not free.
Cons:
Be honest about the cost before installation. More

Works well and a good value at $20.
RS File Repair worked well for me. The program restored 40 jpg files which were about 1.5 MB each. Took maybe 5 minutes on a Win7 notebook with an I5 processor. The first file didn't seem to save in the folder I created so I ran it again and it worked. NOTE: It is only a free download in the sense that you can download it for free, but you can not open it for free. So technically it is a free download, but they should call it $19 or let folks run one file on it. It is the least expensive of the available programs I found. The purchase went smoothly after I got over the $99 package deal shock. It was suppose to be $19. Finally I just ignored everything and held the down arrow button on the keyboard. There at the very bottom is the $19 RS File Repair. Check that one. They have a dozen other utilities I'll consider in the future because this one certainly worked and was a good value. More

It's not even 'free to try'!.
It's not even 'free to try'! There is no option to do anything other than purchase a licence for $19.99

It's not free at all. It won't even allow you to evaluate!.
I don't know why this soft is in the "free" category. You can download it for free, for sure, but after installing it, it's useless. You can't even evaluate it for free. I certainly won't pay for it if I'm not sure that it can recover any of my corrupted files. So note to the developers: if you want to make money on your soft, prove that your software works at all. Allow the recovery of at least one file. If not, thanks, but no, thanks!
Cons:
It won't let you evaluate More
