Pros: Automated engraving handles spacing, collision avoidance, and beam slanting. Plain-text source files integrate with version control systems like Git. Embedded Scheme interpreter enables custom engraving functions.
Cons: Text-based input requires learning a formal syntax. Not a WYSIWYG editor, so no immediate on-screen layout editing. Official macOS binaries target 10.15 and newer.
Pros: Handles common formats including WAV, MP3, M4A, AIF, FLAC, and OGG. Op timized for both Intel-based Macs and Apple Silicon processors. Can open audio tracks directly from many video file formats. Masters Edition supports VST plugins on Mac.
Cons: Several professional features restricted to the Masters Edition. App is sometimes listed under video despite being audio-focused.
