DID YOU KNOW?
Did you know that Facebook was initially called Facemash, then it was named Thefacebook before it became Facebook? The most used social media platform worldwide, Facebook, was founded by Mark Zuckerberg in 2004. A March 2018 statistics show that Facebook has an average of 1.45 billion daily active users. Going back to Facebook's roots, research shows that Mark Zuckerberg discovered his passion for programming and decoding at an early age. When he headed off to Harvard, he initially wanted to pursue a major in Psychology but he still had the desire to take up computer science classes along with it.
Initially, the use of Facebook was only opened to people with a Harvard email address. Apparently, within the first month, 50% of the college’s students had signed up which resulted to the instant hit of Facebook. Later on, people were ready for the upheaval of Facebook's mandate to open its membership nearly all universities in the US and Canada. Then, finally, in December 2009, Facebook hits a major milestone. It became the most-influential and most-used social media platform with 350 million registered users and 132 million unique monthly users back then. Meanwhile, Facebook is also recognized as one of the biggest companies in the world.
