Game of Thrones: Winter is Coming

Steven Roberts
Written on April 5, 2019
"One of the things I liked most about this game is its environment. Not like some of the medieval games I've played where you only have to hack your way thru hordes of enemies, GoT: WiC also lets me strategize my every move and plan ahead in joining alliances as well as making trades. A must-try for every fledgling Westeros lord!"

"RuneScape is my entire childhood. I prefer this older version over the newer one. The low-quality graphics and simple interactions make it very charming. It's the nostalgia factor over HD graphics."

WHAT'S THE MEANING?

A browser game is a kind of video game that is played through a web browser over the internet. Browser games include all game genres, be it a single-player or a multiplayer. Portable by nature, they can be played on different devices, web browsers, or even operating systems.

DID YOU KNOW?

Gone are the glory days of flash. Did you know that you can now play browser games that don't need Adobe Flash? Browser-based games are perfect for a short-time casual game. More often than not, they are free of charge, and perhaps one of its greatest pros is that it requires no download at all. But has it ever occurred to you when you are just itching to play a browser game because you are so bored, suddenly you will be asked to install the latest Flash Player? Such a bummer, right? It somehow defeats the nature of browser-based games--its accessibility. Thanks to HTML 5, you are now not required to install a Flash Player or any plug-in in browsers for flash games because every modern web browser has it. Whether you are a worker, a student, you definitely need small breaks and browser games are the best way to spend them.

Perhaps, one of the charms of browser games is their linearity of gameplay. Since most audiences are on their short breaks, they do not have the luxury of time and effort to think and worry about the development of their character's state. All they need to do is solve a simple puzzle, kill enemies, or pass the quest. Nothing more complicated. Lastly, what makes people keep coming back to it from time to time is its variety of genres. Be it cooking, classic puzzle games, or even MMORTS browser games, they will always be timeless!

"Torn is a massively multiplayer fully-responsive browser game, set in a gritty virtual world known as Torn City. Each day, more than 20,000 players log in multiple times by computer, tablet or smartphone to build up their strength, improve their position, or carry out dark deeds. Torn has over 1 million registered players—hardly surprising since it’s 100% free to play. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Torn.com, the Torn City developers have just unlocked a plethora of new and improved in-city features. Torn rivals in its richness and depth any other virtual world on the ‘real life’ planet. Torn City is the world’s largest text-based RPG. The "text-based" part puts the game in a bit of a niche, but in many ways provides a richer, more powerful and more entertaining experience than you get with graphics-heavy virtual worlds. Why is Torn richer? Because it has to be! There are no flashy CGIs to cover-up mediocre gameplay. On top of that, reading a game is active: you bring your wit, your imagination, and the stunning theater of your mind into play. When you play a graphics-heavy game, a lot of the time, you are just supposed to sit back and receive what the game developers cobbled together."
