Legend of Junior
DID YOU KNOW?
Did you know that Pokemon is short for Pocket Monster? Topping the list of the highest-grossing media franchises of all time, Pokemon, owned by Nintendo, Game Freak, and Creatures, has surely made a hallmark in the industry of film, television series, and most especially in the field of video game, garnering a total revenue of 53.49 billion yen since its year of inception in 1996. The three companies have worked hand-in-hand from Pokemon’s humble beginnings as a pair of video games for Game Boy, developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo, to its unprecedented success today.
Its most recent evidence of success was amplified by the release of the first generation of Pokemon Go in 2016 and the succeeding generations that later followed it. In an article published on Forbes website (Yes, Pokemon is Forbes-worthy!), it seems likely that fourth generation will be released by May or June this year. It is also interesting to note that in 2016, Pokemon Go was also awarded as the Best Mobile and Handheld Game in The Game Awards 2016. The availability of the game on both iOS and Android smartphones has paved the way for more than 75 million people to play the game, making it land on the list of the Best Pokemon Games of the 21st century presented by Metacritic. Indeed, Pokemon fans are all excited for all that has yet to come.
