This game is one of the better story driven games to come out in the past few years. It has the whole package: an amazing story, great soundtrack, beautiful art, and amazing world that you can explore. The narration works really well and it's definitely a game I would recommend. More

I am so glad I decided to download Bastion. I enjoy all the action packed combat in the game.
by Virginia Silva
Thank you for the recommendation, Bastion is so good! Absolutely love the narration, you'd think it would get repetitive and annoying after a while but it doesn't and the music is amazing. I lost about a week to this game. More
Alan Wake is a horror, action-adventure RPG game developed and published by Remedy Entertainment. It is game that was meant to explore the mystery behind the loss of a loved one and the struggle of a man against his very own sanity.
by Philip Grant
Alan Wake is a survival horror third person shooter with an odd twist that you're a horror writer trying to stop the evil, very unique I think. The combat is pretty standard but the enemies are interestingly protected but I don't want to give too much away. It's a really long adventure and full of twists and surprises. Truly a fun game. More

The storyline was pretty cool. I didn't care for the mechanics of the game though. It feels like you're trapped being the character that was designed.

An interesting game and great graphics, can't ask for too much more! I love this game and want to continue playing it time after time. Very interesting plot and game play throughout. If you have not played this game before, definitely check it out and enjoy! More
Transistor is a science fiction action, indie, and RPG game where the player takes on the role of the character Red as she travels through a series of locations, fighting against her enemies known as the Process. It is developed and published by Supergiant Games.
by Jose Moreno
Transistor is an awesome game with a really in-depth story, but unfortunately it doesn't really have replay value aside from its New Game+ mode. Once you get all of the achievements and finish your second run through, that's pretty much it. I'd say it's worth picking up for the experience, so I'd recommend it as well, but try to catch it on sale if possible. More

Transistor isn't just a game. It is a piece of art. The artwork is beautiful and it has a fantastic narrative. It's from the creator of Bastion, so what else do you expect. If you like games with a strong narrative, this is a must buy! More

This game is very thrilling and it gives me an adrenaline rush

The Stanley Parable is a decent solution for this problem. I found the parts of the game that followed the story to be very interesting though there was freedom as well. Overall it was a very nice experience for this genre of games. More

the game has been made exciting and i love the way it first does not make sense. then it all comes to make sense and it becomes enjoyable
by Vincent James
I'm probably in the minority here but I didn't enjoy the game so much. It has awesome voice acting and the overall atmosphere is great. Soon after starting though, it just gets boring. The story starts out making it seem like there's gonna be something super interesting happening, but to avoid spoilers, I'll just say soon enough that isn't the case. But still, worth a play if you like the genre. More

I found this link to be useful as they gave a specific example of a narrative game on steam. I wish that there was a link to maybe more narrative games rather than just linking to one narrative Steam game. More

Gone Home is a narrative game on Steam. I played it because of the hype. I really expected something mind blowing, and was sadly dissapointed. It was a really short simple game. I wouldn't recommend it for others to buy. More

I love exploration games, so I gave Dear Esther a try. While the graphics are pretty astounding, the actual game play was lackluster for me. There was a lot of walking around and reading strange writing. I think there was somewhat of a ghost story but there wasn't any real suspense or tension for me. I didn't feel engaged or connected at all to this game. There are plenty better options on Steam for me to play. More

Dear Esther is a very interesting game, following a man reading letters from a deceased woman named Esther. If you are looking for a game that focuses on much darker themes, as well as one with beautiful nature graphics, then it is the perfect game for you. However, if you are sensitive to the subject of death or other disturbing topics, then it may not be a good choice for you. More

This is one of the best games I have played in a while. I really enjoyed the game-play and the soundtracks were nothing short of amazing.

I love Narrative games, and so I fired up steam to look for some and came across this gem. Dear Esther is a great narrative game, and since it's available on steam you can pick it up today! It's super quirky and I love it! More
Thomas Was Alone is a minimalist platformer in which users will have to successfully guide different types of rectangles with different jumping skills to the end of every level. The game features a mix of puzzle and platform gameplay.
by Thomas Thompson
Thomas Was Alone is a somewhat unique game, but I'm not quite sure how well it functions as a solution for those looking for a more conventional narrative game. It's fairly abstract and minimal and focuses more on a general mood and feel than about describing what's happening to a more conventional set of characters, like one would find in most modern AA games. I'd recommend it, but maybe not to solve this particular issue. More
by Laura Medina
I think this is a solid suggestion in that it is a narrated game but it's not on steam so that doesn't fit. It'd be fine if it was on steam but since it's not I can't say that it's a very good solution. More

This is a great puzzle game for those that love puzzles.
by Christina Russell
This is a simple and fun game. You may even learn somethings from this also. This indeed is a narrative game. You are able to buy additional add ons to this also. Solution works for this issue. More

I had been looking for a game that kinda played out like a book. Then I found Valiant Hearts. It is a graphic novel that you can interact with. It has given me hours of fun! More

I was looking for games with good stories and this one is pretty solid. It has a lot of interesting characters and it's easy because it's point and click. More
Amnesia: The Dark Descent is a horror, action and adventure game for Windows and Mac. Developed and published by Frictional Games, it explores the story in which the memories of the main character are slowly fading away.
by Ashley McDonald
This game was a little dark for me. I guess I should have known what I was getting into seeing as the game description warned that it would "chill me to the core," but I figured that I was brave enough to play. Turns out I'm a wimp. I think I'll stick to Sims! I'd recommend it those who like their entertainment of the terrifying variety. More
by Andrew James
This is an interesting narrative survival game. It is found on steam and exactly what I'm looking for.
by Justin Chapman
Amnesia as a narrative game is really stretching at best. Amnesia at its core is a psychological horror game. The narrative in Amnesia is told throughout the game and through diaries that are found. I would say it's almost like any other game and has bare minimum narration. It pales in comparison to RPG's or a game like Planescape Torment. More
